Thank you for taking an interest in our school. This is an exciting opportunity as we are looking to recruit an experienced and talented Student Services Administrator with excellent communication and organisational skills. This is a great opportunity to join an innovative team and be part of its future success. The post requires initiative, flexibility, patience and the ability to work under pressure. The successful applicant will work closely with the student services team and directly support the Designated Safeguarding Lead and SENDCo at Aylestone.

Aylestone School is an oversubscribed co-educational 11-16 school, located in the picturesque Cathedral City of Hereford, adjacent to the Herefordshire Colleges' campus for Further Education, and a 10-minute walk from the city railway station. The school is a popular choice with parents in Herefordshire as it is a small school (450 students) but is still able to offer the breadth, choice and opportunities of larger schools.

Aylestone School is federated with two primary schools with one Executive Headteacher and a single Governing Body. Herefordshire Council have recently approved an investment of £13.1 million for Aylestone School for the building of a new sports hall and teaching block to enable the school to increase its capacity to 750 students. We have also recently opened The Bridge at Aylestone which is a Local Authority provision based within our school environment, providing education and structure for students with an EHCP and a diagnosis of autism. Whilst the school has a relentless focus on high expectations and aspirations, we are proud to provide a happy and nurturing environment, so that as well as maturing into well-rounded, confident young people, our students develop a passion for learning.

We are looking for a candidate who:

  • has enthusiasm and a strong commitment to the achievement, safeguarding and welfare of all students
  • has a sense of humour, perspective and an ability to bring out the best in others
  • has excellent communication skills and is an inclusive individual with high expectations
  • is flexible, accommodating and a team-player
  • will support the school’s staff in understanding and meeting the needs of students to promote progress and positive outcomes

·         is able to work under their own initiative with strong IT and administrative skills

We can offer:

  • a supportive staff team and vibrant professional community
  • a commitment to continuing professional development
  • a positive school culture
  • appropriate training if necessary

Aylestone School and the governing body is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and vulnerable adults. The successful candidate will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service enhanced check and further pre-employment checks will be conducted in accordance with KCSIE. The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the School is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.
